Cleaning a fursuit is pretty easy and if done right, can help your fursuit last a lot longer.
No

The MAJOR NO-NO's.

- Don't put your fursuit in the drier!!! The fur on most fursuits is basically stretched plastic or easy melting material. If you put your fursuit in the drier it will probably melt into a big ball of crap... in other words, it will be destroyed.

- Do not use bleach on your fursuit. Bleach will destroy the fur.

- After wearing your fursuit, don't roll it up into a ball and throw it in the corner, doing that can cause mould and other yucks to happen/form in your fursuit.

When washing a fursuit you can wash it 2 ways, by hand in the bathtub, or throw it in the washer on soft setting. You should use cold water to avoid any shrinking or other possible bad things.

Hand wash

Washing By Hand...

When washing it by hand you will want to make sure the fursuit is fully covered by water and you will want to use a FUR FRIENDLY SOAP, Woolit works great, but any soap that is fur friendly "no alcohol or bleach that can be used on wools" will work good. Make sure you mush and churn the fursuit for a while to have all the stink, sweat and body oils taken out of the fur. Take it out of the water and rinse it out. Make sure you get all the soap out. BE CAREFUL, THE WATER IN THE BODY SUIT WILL ADD ALOT OF WEIGHT TO THE FURSUIT.

When you are done, hang it up somewhere to dry, or lay it over somewhere it can dry. Also, comb the fur while it is wet to help against knotting and to help the fur not puff up or dry weird.

Machine wash

Washing With Machine...

When washing it in the machine. Make sure it is set to a soft setting. You will want to use a FUR FRIENDLY SOAP, Woolit works great, but any soap that is fur friendly "no alcohol or bleach that can be used on wools" will work good too. Over all just throw it in with the soap, and let the machine do the work.

After the suit has either been rinsed, or has finished in the machine. Hang it up somewhere to dry, or lay it over somewhere it can dry. Also, comb the fur while it is wet to help against knotting and to help the fur not puff up or dry weird.

Noble's tips

Noble's Tips...

- To help you not have to wash your suit as much, wear a spandex or lycra suit (check out these!), under your fursuit. The spandex helps pull all the sweat and body oils away from your fursuit and keeps your body between 10% to 50% cooler when in suit. And feels a lot better against the skin then the backing of the fur.

- After wearing your fursuit, turn it inside out, lay it out over something to dry and spray it with a fur friendly/non alcohol disinfectant. Ferbress and lycal work fine for this. Just make sure you read what’s in it.

- Don't forget combing and fixing any things that need repairing.

- Doing all this can make your fursuit last a lot longer and smell better!
